My New Way of Drawing Wiring Diagrams

Boards are being wired up one at a time. The wiring diagram can be seen under the bottle of flux.

So obvious - but why didn't I think of it before?

I had read about using coloured drawing pins stuck beside the rails to help with wiring so I tried it. It really did help me to visualise what I was doing.

I decided to take this a step further when I was designing wiring for the benchwork modules forming the entrances / exits to the staging yard.

I was going away for a short break with my son, riding rollercoasters as we're both rollercoatser fans. Roller coasters are like trains really - except for the grades. I wanted to try and develop the wiring plan whilst I was away so that I could get stuck in when I returned.

I decided to take a bird's eye digital photo of each benchwork module and printed them out in monochrome on sheets of A4 paper. I then marked up the feeds / rails in colour as appropriate. It was so easy to visualise this way and so obvious - why did I not think of it before?
