Use of O Gauge sleeper strip.
I constructed rail end sections out of printed circuit board laminated on timber (O-gauge sleeper strip available from Page Components in the UK). The PCB is cut to the width of the two rails and the rails are soldered in place. The timber is countersunk and drilled so that the fixing screws are flush with the timber but below the level of the PCB. The whole assembley is screwed down on to of the foam underlay. The screws then allow for fine tuning the height of the rails. The screws will be covered with a piece of plasticard on which will be cosmetics sleepers / ties and ballast. Obviously the PCB has to be vut so as the not to short circuit the rails.
